Forming people, Growing Servants in Christ…
At FPC, we begin our spiritual formation by imagining ourselves to be a people sent by God to encounter and to imitate God’s love made personal in Jesus Christ.
No easy task, this kind of internal formation takes time, humility, and a willingness to immerse oneself into the story of Jesus’ life. And if that was not hard enough, taking the next step – being in relationship with folks who may hold values different from our own – is a full leap of faith! Nevertheless, because Jesus made the leap, so must we!
As it is,
Forming people in Christ is prayerful.
Forming People in Christ is hopeful.
Forming People in Christ is risky.
Forming people in Christ is a “mission in progress”.
To help us on our way, FPC has landed upon a metaphor to shape and to focus our formation and growth in Christ. The metaphor is water…living water. Given the fact that Glenwood Springs is formed by two rivers, the water and river metaphors makes a lot of sense. So over the course of the next year, we will be introducing watery images, allusions, and missional efforts intent on helping us clarify our unique call for mission in Jesus’ name on the Western Slope of Colorado.
If you would like to help us launch our missional efforts, we would love to learn how Christ forms you.
